On Sunday, hubby and I decided to go for a nice, relaxing ride through the North fork with our 1965 VW Beetle. I knew it would include stopping at a new place or two to try their food as usual. You see the hubby has to feed every few hours or he gets a little grumpyJ. So we ended up stopping in Greenport where we decided to walk around the town. The minute we got there we were both in the mood for a good cup of coffee and while walking we went past this BBQ joint called BBQ Bills. The aroma of the smoky grill was filling the air. We found ourselves doing a complete 180 and stopping in front of BBQ Bills to read their menu. I said I am just in the mood for coffee and the husband turned around and said okay ribs it is. The place was very busy and the smell was great. They seated us upstairs on the balcony overlooking the bay, which was nice, the weather was so perfect that day. We decided to just order a bowl of Chili, which is something we love. We also ordered the starter sampler platter. He had Lemonade and I tried the house Sangria, both were just OK. The waitress informed us that they ran out of popcorn shrimp and brisket so she gave us extra on the smoked wings and ribs. The presentation was not all that nice as you can see below from the photos. We both agreed the wings were cooked perfectly and had a great flavor to them. The sausage was a smoked Italian sausage that was good as well. The ribs could have been juicier but had a combo of spicy and sweet flavors that I liked however hubby did not care for. The ribs also did not have any smoke rings even though they were over cooked to the point of being tough and dry. The chili was a little too watery for both of us, more of a soup then a chili. We like chili that has a tighter consistency. It did however have excellent flavor with a nice peppery kick right at the end. It was served with a piece of cornbread that I enjoyed so much I ate the entire piece, hubby was not happy.
This was a tough call on this visit between 2 and 3 forks. Two forks it is.
