The wife and I stopped in to the Bayside Clam Bar & Grill on Sunday 24, 2012 for a quick bite. This restaurant is located at the end of Bayveiw Ave at the East Islip Marina. A great place to have a drink and over look the Great South Bay with great views of the Robert Moses Bridges in the background. They have some local beers on tap and some great specialty drinks. Our favorite is their spin on the classic Margarita, the Bahama Mamarita with a few added ingredients. We only stopped in for a quick snack on this trip. We ordered the Pulled Pork & Shrimp Dumplings and the Key West Conch Fritters. The combination of pulled pork and shrimp works wonderful. Both of the dipping sauces the Teriyaki and Spicy Chili complement the dumplings very well in their own way. The one thing we would change is to offer them both steamed and fried. We found the wrapper to be a bit doughy. The conch fritters were good as well; you don’t find to many places this far north that makes these. They had good flavor and texture however it seemed the oil may have been a little too hot this time with the outside a little too dark and the inside a little under cooked. Over all this is a fantastic local spot with awesome views.
They get 4 out of 5 forks.
